How to archive zones in Eyrus.
As your project progresses, the zones that may have been helpful at some point are no longer helpful. Maybe those areas have been turned over or a phase is wrapping up...etc.
Regardless of the reason, this flexibility is part of our appeal.
At a high level - cleaning up your zone directory, as you go, will garner a more efficient list of zones.
- aka - if you're zone dropdown list is clogged up by having a ton of older zones in the list - this will fix that.
Here are a few other reasons why you may consider archiving zones:
- Data conversion for existing projects
Should a project want to transition from a non-hierarchy dynamic to a zones hierarchy dynamic we make sure to conserve historical data associated with the zones that were part of the old setup.
- Conserving historical data
When a zone is archived, we conserve historical records. All reports on the system will return historical records associated to archived zones.
- Keeping your project clean and organized
As the project's progress advances, you may want to move readers around your site from a finished area to an unfinished area. When an area is officially complete and doesn't need to be tracked anymore, you can archive the zone to have a cleaner view of the zones that you're actually tracking.
Pro-Tip*
Before you begin archiving any zones on your project. You'll first need to make sure any reader/s that would have been assigned to that are no longer assigned to the zone in question.
